Vi Agroforestry (Vi-skogen) is a Swedish development cooperation organisation, fighting poverty and improving the environment through tree planting. We do this together with small-holder farming families and farmers’ organisations in the Lake Victoria basin in East Africa. The foundation of Vi Agroforestry’s work is sustainable agriculture and agroforestry – growing trees alongside crops and livestock. It provides increased access to food, access to sustainable energy sources, more income. Sustainable agriculture contributes to the mitigation of climate change and protects against the negative effects of climate change. Since its inception in 1983, Vi Agroforestry has reached over 2,3 million people through education, advisory and services.
Anna Tibblin appointed as new Secretary General
Anna Tibblin, head of International Department at We Effect, has today been appointed as the Secretary General for Vi Agroforestry and We Effect.
She will take over after Anneli Rogeman, who finishes her term at the end of May 2018. Anna Tibblin has worked as the head of We Effect’s
International Department since 2016.
Prior to that she worked as the regional director for We Effect in Latin America and in Southern Africa.
”I am both honored and excited about this new role and very much look forward to the continued work together with our experienced and competent colleagues, both in Sweden and around the world. My long-term goal is to close both organisations. The day we are no longer needed is also the day we have succeeded in our mission to eliminate poverty and injustice”, says Anna Tibblin.
” Vi Agroforestry and We Effect are professional organisations, but development cooperation is not a goal in itself – it’s a method to distribute resources and contribute to human development. We support people to work together to change their living conditions; the cooperative concept is that people are stronger together.”
Anna Tibblin has a rich and valuable experience in international development, both from Sweden and other countries. She has worked as a country manager of Zimbabwe for the Swedish organisation Diakonia and as a consultant evaluating development projects and as a journalist.
”Anna Tibblin has done an excellent job as the head of the International Department. She knows our organisation and has 25 years’ experience of development work. Vi Agroforestry has developed immensely the last years and I am convinced that Anna is the right person to maintain this positive development”, says Ines Uusmann, chairman of the Board of Directors, Vi Agroforestry.
Anna Tibblin will take office on 1 June 2018.
